Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Single Touch Payroll is a new way of salary reporting to the Australian Tax Office. The purpose is to encourage more frequent digital salary reporting – and it’s changing the way employers operate.

From 1 July 2018, Single Touch Payroll became mandatory for employers with 20 or more employees. From 1 July 2019, all Australian small business employers are required to report their payroll information this way.

At Cloud8 we believe Single Touch Payroll has the potential to significantly increase compliance costs for small businesses. Instead of reporting once a year, employers are required to send employee payroll information to the Tax Office at the same time as their standard pay run. This information includes salary, wages, PAYG withholding and superannuation. We know this can be an imposition. But with the help of our partnership with Xero, we can make the process easier than ever.
